Why choose an 8-person gîte on the west shore of the lake?
Around Lake Annecy, most rentals sleep 2 to 4 people. As soon as two families or a group of friends travel together, you often have to book several places. At Gîte du Cruet, everyone stays under one roof: one check-in, one big table, and long evenings without anyone having to drive home.
The west shore has another advantage: it is quieter than central Annecy. The gîte sits at 752 m above Saint-Jorioz, at the gateway to the Bauges Regional Nature Park. Nights are cool in summer, and the lake is still close at hand.

All 4 bedrooms can be set up with a double bed or two single beds. A couple, two children who prefer separate beds, two friends: we make up the beds to suit your group before you arrive. The bedding is high quality, and the rooms have blackout curtains and plenty of natural light.

Shared spaces designed for big tables
The heart of the gîte is the old barn itself: a cathedral-ceilinged living room under exposed beams, sofas, a smart TV and a large table for 8 facing the mountains. The kitchen is fully equipped for group cooking: induction hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, XL fridge with freezer, coffee machine, plus a raclette and fondue set.
Underfloor heating keeps the barn comfortable all year round. Outside, a garden shared with a fellow resident of the farm has a picnic table and a parasol, with the Bauges as a backdrop. Parking is covered.
Lake Annecy 10 minutes away
A 10-minute drive takes you to the Saint-Jorioz public beach, with its large shaded lawn, jetties and paddling pool. Sevrier, Duingt and the southern tip of the lake are close by: we compare them in our guide to the west-shore beaches. The greenway along the lake runs just below, perfect for a family bike ride.
Things to do as a group from the gîte

- Enjoy the lake: swimming, paddleboarding and kayaking in Saint-Jorioz.
- Practise yoga with Sophie, a certified teacher, on the terrace or in the living room.
- Ski in winter: Le Semnoz is 25 minutes away (see our winter page).
- Eat well: the Fromagerie de la Cochette, just across the road, prepares raclette or fondue baskets to order.
