In short: Gîte du Cruet in Saint-Eustache near Annecy is well suited to week-long remote-work stays, alone, as a family or as a small team (up to 8 people). There is a large work table, a bright space under the timber roof and 200 Mbps wifi. Outside school holidays the hamlet is very quiet, trails start at the gîte and the lake is 10 minutes away.
Why work remotely from Le Cruet?
Working from a gîte means keeping your professional routine while changing the scenery. At Le Cruet, the hamlet is quiet, the view stretches over the Bauges, and the day can end with a swim in Lake Annecy or a walk up to the Col de la Cochette. Outside school holidays, it is also when the gîte is most available.
Everything you need to work comfortably
- A large wooden table seating 8, with room for everyone
- A bright space under the timber roof and several corners to take calls in private
- 200 Mbps wifi throughout the gîte, and a large screen for presentations
- 4 bedrooms: everyone sleeps (and calls) in peace
- Coffee machine and kettle, of course
The connection: the gîte has a 200 Mbps internet connection, plenty for back-to-back video calls, large file transfers and several people working at the same time.
A typical day
- 8 am — coffee facing the mountains, a yoga session with Sophie if you have booked one.
- 9 am – 12.30 pm — focused work, far from city noise.
- Lunch break — a forest loop from the gîte, or a picnic with produce from the cheese dairy opposite.
- 2 pm – 6 pm — meetings and calls.
- After 6 pm — a swim at Saint-Jorioz in summer, a ride along the greenway, or raclette in the living room in winter.
Alone, as a family or as a team
Solo or as a couple, you have a large space to yourselves. As a family, parents work while children enjoy the garden and the lake outside peak season. As a small team (freelancers, a start-up, a project team), the gîte becomes a pop-up office: a week of working together, with highlights in the mountains. For a more structured format, see our off-site seminar page.
When to come?
The best times are outside school holidays: September and October for the mild late season, March to June for spring in the mountains, and the quiet weeks of winter to combine work with skiing at Le Semnoz, 25 minutes away. Weekly bookings suit remote work best.
